My friends know me as a “Vleis,Reis en aardappels” kind of guy (for my non Afrikaans speaking readers meat, rice and potatoes kind of guy) this has been true for most of my life, not for lack of trying I think my poor parents just thought “he is 6’4 we can’t tell him that he won’t grow big and strong if he doesn’t eat his veggies.
So it turns out that a lot of the crap surrounding my health I have had to deal with is less about exercise and more about my eating choices as with most things in life, the correct choice means everything, salad vs burger , run vs drive… So outside of making the decision to be more active and get my body broken and rebuilt by the Get Fit crew I have taken their advice (and everyone that has ever been close to me) to eat better and use my portion size accordingly I obviously read the wrong eating plan when I first started training 10 years ago , the plan I read was for the water buffalo native to the lands within Mumbai… The one that says you need to eat 4 times your body weight in one sitting, anyway I always used to think that it would be such an inconvenience to prepare food for healthy eating, it wasn’t, my beautiful wifey and I spent the evening making food for the next week instead of watching T.V. it has been an adjustment paying so much for food and supplements but I think it will be worth it.
My family, friends and just about every healthy person on planet earth have always tried to get me on the right side of healthy, but the biggest thing has been to get my mind on the right side of healthy, something that only oneself can do… Seriously any one reading this that could be on the fence to trying it out… Do it but not for them, do it for yourself, you will like you more and that’s important , I mean what’s not to like !
I have had so many people try push me to do this but I really want to thank my dad for organizing that I do Sani2C it has really made me not want to let him or myself down. And in turn I know I need to be the opposite of a fat Mountain biker to do the sani2C.
So here is the meal I ate tonight that inspired this post ,
Grilled chicken breast
Red onion
Mixed garden ie lettuce, rocket and some other non poisonous greenery
Feta
And raw almonds
It made for quite a culinary delight and the best part is I am truly satisfied , no cravings for anything !
The before and after say it all me thinks,
So a great ending to the first week of this 12 week challenge , for some just dessert I think I will leave you with this thought …
